Looking at an executive role? Here are Proven Strategies to Elevate your Leadership on your Résumé.

This is a question I often get on my intro calls: What are the best ways to highlight your leadership in your resume to move on to a higher-level role?

When you apply for a role that's a step above, whether it's Director, VP, or a C-level role, you want the recruiter to immediately understand that you're at the right level for the role. That you can do the work and lead.

This is a critical first step and one that I often see people miss the mark on.

Your resume should speak 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 about your expertise and what you bring to the table.

Here are a few easy ways to help you to be considered for higher-level roles.

☑️ Include the scope and scale of your roles. You can do this by calling out your team size, direct and indirect reports, your budget or annual revenue, identifying who you report to, and with a description of the company as a whole.

All of this info helps recruiters to know if you've got the right background for the role.

☑️ Give details on your projects and achievements. Don't just share the numbers - though the numbers are important - but share how you got there and how you navigated hurdles.

If you exceeded the goal - state the goal and how much you exceeded it by.

What value did you bring to the win? Did you push the team forward, identify gaps, innovate, problem solve, or lead?

☑️ Talk about 𝘩𝘰𝘸 you lead.

You can't just describe yourself as a "leader."

You need to show 𝘩𝘰𝘸 you lead by including details about projects and your role on the team and how your leadership style aligns with the team.

Have you taken the time to convey your leadership on your resume and LinkedIn profile?
