How a Client's CEO Role Redefined Her Leadership Impact

I had a great conversation last weekend with a client who recently moved from a C-level role into a CEO role. She told me something about her old role that I insisted we add to her resume, and she was surprised that I wanted to add it. Can you guess what it was?

After leaving the C-level role for the new CEO role, her old CEO hired no fewer than 3 people to replace her. 3.

The work she was doing had such high value that in re-evaluating the role, they knew it deserved 2 additional FTEs.

She was surprised I felt so strongly about adding it to her resume, but...

This is a big deal.

It's absolutely something you should include on your resume.

And it's absolutely something employers want to know about you.

I'm not saying that everyone should be doing the work of 3 people. I'm saying that when you are clearly going above and beyond, and that is recognized by your employer, it's critical to share it.

Just a short phrase, "Following exit, role was split into 3 FTE positions including C--, C---, and VP, X," does so much to show the scope and scale of your work, which is so important for any leadership resume - Director, VP, EVP, and all C-level roles.

What happened after you left your last role? It might be worth adding to your resume.
